We actually use GtkBuilder, however, due to some problems with the way glade-gtk2 handles this (specific?) file, it is preferred to work with scenic.glade and convert to scenic.xml with gtk-builder-convert. In view of the imminent change of the gui toolkit, this issue could be closed.
